Carluke Rovers' John Cumming Stadium was today subject of a disgusting act of vandalism that saw the South Lanarkshire club's pitch lit on fire.
According to the club website, the fire began in the storage container that held the matting for the athletic tracks high jump. Heavy winds saw the flames reach the pitch in which it completely damaged the clubs goalposts before continuing onto the 18 yard box where it was eventually extinguished.
The Central District First Division side were due to host Newmains in the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup this weekend, however, the resulting damage has now rendered the pitch unplayable and as of now the club aren't aware of whether repair work can take place on the pitch.
