Celtic manager, Ronny Deila, has stated that Mikael Lustig and Kris Commons picked up knocks in Saturday’s victory over Dundee, and will be doubts for next week’s Europa League tie with Inter Milan, at Celtic Park.
Lustig, the Swedish international is expected to be absent for around a month because of an ankle injury whilst Commons’ thigh injury should keep him out two weeks, at the most.
The manager, however, has suggested he still believes Commons can be fit in time for Celtic’s vital Last 32, European battle on the 19th of this month.
“He (Commons) has pulled a thigh muscle but hopefully it’ll be one or two weeks.”
Deila added: “It could be much worse. He can be fit for Inter.
“It’s more serious for Mikael, it may be three or four weeks.”
Following the Hoops 2-0 win at Dundee, Deila travelled to Milan to watch Roberto Mancini’s team brush aside Palermo 3-0.
Despite Inter’s dominant performance they've struggled throughout this season and are sitting at 11th place in the Serie A, giving Deila the belief that his side can beat the misfiring side, full of so many global superstars.
“Inter is a good team, it’s a big club with many good player. But after their match I sat with a good feeling – we have a chance.”
He added: “I believe it’s possible and that’s the most important thing. We are much more prepared than we were going into the Europa League so I’m going into the game with a good feeling and thinking we have a good chance.”
