Celtic FC 2014/15 Third Kit Unveiled
Earlier on this morning the Scottish Champions Celtic FC revealed their third kit for the upcoming season. This year’s third kit is predominantly white, although on the shirt features a bold yellow chest stripe starting from the edge of the shoulders to the other. Bordering the yellow strip are two smaller green stripes. On the sleeve of the shirt is the traditional Celtic hoop around the bicep if short sleeved or around the wrist for a long sleeve.

This years third shirt features a special white collar that has only ever been used by Nike on this year’s Eitracht Frankfurt 2014-15 shirts and the Celtic’s first ever kit back in 1888. The White collar makes the neck of the shirt look as if there is an under armour or a long John shirt underneath. However, it is just the way the collar is made to look by Nike. This is a very smart style and concept from Nike.
Once again the strip is sponsored by the Irish Cider company Magners. The Magners logo is used largely in the middle of the top. Magners is featured elsewhere of the kit, with the words Magners embroidered in small text on the shorts below the iconic Celtic logo.
The shorts and socks are in keeping with the Bhoys green and white tradition. Most of the shorts are white, with just a green stripe on the outer thigh leading down to the knee, with the green Nike tick and Celtic logo at the bottom of the shorts. On the top of the socks it begins with a 3 inch green stripe leading that leads down to just below the knee. The rest of the sock below is white with just the Nike tick and the club name embroidered in the Celtic green.
The club said that they yellow stripe on the chest of the shirt is to remind the club, fans and players of their history and Irish club origin. The club based the distinctive yellow hinted shirt on the Republic of Ireland flag, with many of the players of a Republic of Ireland background.
Kafui Akpo-Young the Glasgow based tennis player described the kit as “One of the nicest Celtic kits that I have seen in a long time. Celtic have also made it an affordable price so that’s definitely a bonus”.
The full kit can be bought from the Celtic store for £60.00 for all adult sizes and £46.00 for kids sizes.
Like many kits that have recently been revealed I think it is good to see clubs go back to their roots and going back to original designs.
