It has been announced this morning that Everton have signed teenage defender Brendan Galloway from League One club MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.
Galloway became the Don’s youngest ever player to make an appearance when he came of the bench at 79 minutes in a 6-0 victory at home to Nantwich Town in the FA Cup first round on the 12 of November 2011, aged just 15 years old.
Three years later, he has continued to impress in League 1 and has had attracted interest from clubs like Derby County, West Bromwich and Carlisle United.
The 18 year old has signed a 5 year contract with the toffees and will ply his trade this season in the Everton under 21’s squad.
The centre back commented, “ I’m looking forward to learning of the more senior players- the likes of Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka”, he said.
“I’ve been watching them for years now and they’re great professionals, great players- players who have been there and done it. That’s a big thing for me to be able to learn of guys like that.”
The defender who has been capped by England under 19’s expressed his desire to leave the League 1 club at the beginning of the summer. The Dons boss Karl Robinson revealed, “ It’s disappointing for the club and it’s disappointing for me to lose a player of Brendan’s quality”.
The Zimbabwe born defender only made 10 first team appearances for MK Dons, however, he was a mainstay in the clubs youth sides.
