Yesterday evening, it became apparent that the Celtic and England goalkeeper Fraser Forster looks set for a return to the Barclays Premier League for a reported £10million pounds, after Southampton announced the two clubs had agreed on a fee.
The Scottish Champions have already turned down various bids for the 6”4 stopper. Despite a Champions League reprieve, Celtic have allowed Forster to return to England and increase his chances of capturing the England number one spot from Man City’s Joe Hart.
Should the medical and personal terms be agreed, the deal will most likely be finalised by the end of the weekend.
Forster’s former club Newcastle United will receive 25% of the transfer fee, having signed for the Glasgow club in 2012 for just £2million, although making no appearances for the magpies.
Despite Forster’s successful four years in Glasgow, he will be disappointed that his final competitive appearances for the club came in the 6-1 aggregate defeat to Legia Warsaw. Not the way he would've liked to bow out to a club that had given him so many fantastic memories in Europe and domestically.
