Manchester United home kit 2014-15
On Monday the 7th of July, Manchester United marked the beginning of new coach Luis Van Gaal’s coaching era by releasing an eye catching new kit for the 2014-15 season.
The season’s kit is once again the traditional and historic red, white and black. The colours that so many fantastic footballers (no, not Fellaini) have worn while representing the red devils.
Manchester United like many clubs in Europe this year have chosen a modern and some would say unusual collar. This season, the collar is no longer Man United’s usual mini V necked style; it now has a larger loop around the neck exposing all of the throat and much of the collar bone itself. Around the collar is a black and white pattern in keeping with the kits second and third colours.
The rest of the modern looking shirt is cherry red, with just the edge of the sleeves featuring a white and black colour on the edges, the same colour sequence on the collar. On either side of the upper chest are the iconic Manchester United logo and the increasingly used Nike tick. In the middle of the shirt, embroidered is the logo of the US car manufacturing giants Chevrolet. In 2012 Man United announced a £53million per season sponsorship for the next 7 years with the car company, starting this season.
The shorts and socks this season are the same as the previous 4 seasons. With all white socks and above the knee embroidered is the Nike tick and Man United logo. The socks are all black accept on the top of the socks, where the cherry red is featured again.
The kit will go on sale worldwide on the 16th of July and worn for the first time in their preseason friendly against Los Angeles Galaxy on the 23rd of this Month.
Manchester United fan Salim Ahmed commented on the kit, “I think it’s a really nice kit, one I will definitely be buying. I think the Chevrolet (or as he pronounces Shey-va-row-lat) is a much nicer logo than AON and it will look good when we lift the Premier League”.
I also agree that it is a really nice new kit and completely different to previous United kits.
