It has been announced that today AC Milan made a bit to sign Chelsea “striker” Fernando Torres on a season long loan.
The Italian giants are on the lookout for a striker due to the departure of Mario Balotelli to Liverpool on Monday.
Adrino Galliani commented, “Torres is certainly an important forward and we will see if we can sign him or another player.”
The Blues broke a British transfer record in 2011 when signing Torres from Liverpool for a sum of £50m. Torres’s transfer to Chelsea to many at the time was seen as a good piece of business for the London club, however, his performances in the blue jersey have no way justified that price tag. Now with the signing of Diego Costa from Athletico, Torres looks to be even further behind in Chelsea’s striking pecking order.
Milan have also made a bid for Torres’s fellow Chelsea teammate Marco Van Ginkel. The Dutchman was out for 6 months last season after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament after lasting just 10 minutes of his debut.
Galliani openly commented on Van Ginkel today saying, “We have written to Chelsea and are awaiting a response. We are optimistic.”
However, on Sunday evening Jose Morinho was quoted by BBC sport regarding Torres, “I want him to stay. He will play and score goals, and be very useful to us.”
Chelsea fans across social media have not been shy, with the vast majority hoping Torres moves on.
