Norwich City’s Martin Olsson has been banned for a further three matches after appearing to punch referee Simon Cooper in the chest.
The defender appeared to make contact with the chest of Cooper prior to his 60th-minute sending off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Wolves winger Rajiv van La Parra. Olsson then appeared to grow frustrated as he looked to have pushed the referee backwards.
The Sweden international was already suspended for Saturday’s victory over Watford, will now miss Tuesday night’s match against former employers Blackburn Rovers, Saturday’s East Anglian derby at Ipswich town, and the League Cup tie against Crawley next week.
Norwich have already announced that they will not be appealing against the decision.
Canaries fan Lewis Cranston commented, “It’s very frustrating to see Olsson continue his poor discipline into this season. Apart from having the occasional rush of blood he is a very good player.”
When asked if he thinks his suspension will have an effect on the team’s performances Lewis said, “No I’m sure it won’t. Neil (Adams) has greatly improved our strength and depth and I’m sure some of the youngsters can step up and make themselves count.”
