Here in the UK most of us are familiar with the Private Eye newspaper. Edited by 'Have I Got News For You' star Ian Hislop it analyzes current affairs and reports them in a funny, often sarcastic way. With great minds like Steve Bell working on it, the Private Eye is very informed and cleverly written.
Magazines like these often contain quite controversial jokes that target politics and religion. It's important to have things like this as it gives their own opinion on higher powers and stops them from taking over completely.
Today in the office of the writers of Charlie Hebdo, a newspaper similar to the Private Eye in Paris, was attacked. The magazine had released a cartoon deemed offensive towards the Prophet Muhammad.
The Islamist attack killed twelve people. They broke into the office and opened fire on the defenceless people inside, brutally murdering the innocents.
With it only being the seventh day into 2015 people are being mascaraed because of a magazine article. Disgusting.
An investigation is going onto catch the three extremists responsible.
I hope, along with the rest of you, to see the day when we aren't torn apart by religion and are able to express our opinions and views without being shot dead at point blank range.
