Today, Rochdale AFC announced that they have put good use to Marijuana lights from dismantled Cannabis farms.
The League 1 side’s grounds man stated that the heat from the lamps will improve the bobbly turf around the goals and tunnel.
In theory, the lights are supposed to heat up the soil and replicate warmer conditions, allowing the grass to grow quicker.
Had the club paid for the lights as the Cannabis famers do, they would’ve needed to have payed around £30,000.However, luckily for the club, the Greater Manchester police kindly donated the lights to the club and stated that they were happy the lights were being used for legal purposes.
The clubs grounds man commented, “The lights will make a massive difference.”
“It gets a lot of wear and tear in winter because of the football matches on the Saturday and the rugby on Sunday.”
He added, “I can’t thank the Police enough. It has saved the club a fortune and the players will be happy, especially the goalkeepers.”
